Hi and welcome to my Blog! This is Tess Andrews with Edina Realty and Live South of the River! I thought I would start by sharing some events to look forward to in and around some of the South of the River Communities. 1st up is Prior Lake (easy choice since this is where my office is)!
The City of Prior Lake hosts and sponsors numerous activities every year. Below are a few of the City's most renown yearly events.
Prior Lake Polar Plunge (February 15, 2020)
Every year members of the City of Prior Lake Police Department join residents and participate in the Prior Lake Polar Plunge. In 2020, the event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15 at noon at Sand Point Beach, 14349 Crest Ave. in Prior Lake. The event benefits athletes of Special Olympics Minnesota. Spring-A-Ding (May 2, 2020)
Saturday, May 2, from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Lakefront Park, 5000 Kop Parkway in Prior Lake.
Free family fun with a petting zoo, inflatables, live entertainment, face paint, crafts and much more.
Beach Party (June 5 & July 10, 2020)
11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Sand Point Beach 14349 Crest Ave NE, Prior Lake. We have two free beach parties planned for summer 2020. Come to the beach for activities like face painting, wacky hair coloring, games, and crafts will be available while supplies last. Kidsdance will also be there with music, contests and more! Limited concessions will be available for purchase with cash only. No lifeguards on duty. Free Parking during events.

Coin Carnival (June 12, 2020)
4 - 7 p.m. at Lakefront Park, 5000 Kop Parkway in Prior Lake. BRING YOUR COINS to the Kid’s Coin Carnival. Give each game a try to win carnival prizes. Games will include: a Hi-Striker, Duck Pond, Plinko, inflatables and more! Any coin for any game – dollar bills will not be accepted at games! Bring coins! A food truck will be on site selling food and drinks, so please bring cash to purchase.
Fourth of July Fireworks and Events in Prior Lake (July 4, 2019)
The Prior Lake Association will host its annual boat parade on Thursday, July 4 at 1 p.m. beginning at Charlie's on Prior on Upper Prior Lake, followed by a fireworks display on Lower Prior Lake usually after 10 p.m., providing excellent views from almost anywhere north or west of Lakefront Park.
The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community invites the public to its annual free fireworks display at 10 p.m. at the Wacipi (Pow Wow) Grounds in Shakopee, 3212 Dakotah Pkwy.
Lakefront Music Fest (July 10 & 11, 2020)
Prior Lake Rotary's Music Fest is not a City-sponsored event, but the city is involved in park maintenance and traffic control. The event takes place in beautiful Lakefront Park in the heart of the city.
LAKEFRONT DAYS (August 7-8, 2020)
In 2020, Prior Lake's 37th Annual Lakefront Days Celebration will take place from Aug. 7 to 8 in beautiful Lakefront Park in Prior Lake. The event is two days of fun-filled activities for the whole family. Large crowds and a festive atmosphere is expected. Many of last year’s favorite fun activities return, along with some new things to enjoy for the whole family. NIGHT TO UNITE (August 4, 2020)
Night to Unite occurs on the first Tuesday in August every year, typically, between 6 and 9 p.m. It was started by the Minnesota Crime Prevention Association, a statewide, non-profit organization of citizens, law enforcement officers, and crime prevention practitioners who work together to promote, develop, and advance crime prevention programs. 40th ANNUAL FIRE DEPARTMENT CHICKEN BBQ (September 8, 2019)
Support your Prior Lake Fire Department Relief Association at the Prior Lake VFW in downtown Prior Lake on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, from 3 - 8 p.m. Enjoy great food and friends! Tickets available at the door (Adults/$15; Children under 14 years/$7). All proceeds go towards the Fire Department's equipment and operation costs. CHALK FEST (September 11 & 12, 2020)
The inaugural Chalk Fest event in 2019 drew over 1,500 people of all ages to Main Avenue in downtown Prior Lake to see the work of professional artists, participate in the amateur art contest and enjoy musical entertainment and food trucks during this free, two-day event.
FIRE DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE (October 8, 2020)
Area residents can enjoy the Prior Lake Fire Station Open House on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Fire Station No. 1, 16776 Fish Point Rd. SE. The open house is part of Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 4-10. Visit the National Fire Protection Association website to learn more about fire safety and the national event.
CANDY CRAWL (October 30, 2020)
Children in costume with an adult are invited to our FREE Candy Crawl on Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Start your Candy Crawl at Prior Lake City Hall to trick-or-treat and pick up your Pumpkin Passport! After City Hall venture to the Police Station and Library building for the first few stops on the Candy Crawl. Your Pumpkin Passport will lead you on an adventure downtown to many participating businesses. Don't forget your treat bag!
DecemBRRR DAZZLE (December 4, 2020)
December 4, 2020, from 6 - 8:30 p.m. on Main Ave. in Prior Lake.
This FREE family event draws hundreds of residents who warm the usual cold weather by joining in all the fun and planned activities. Santa and his reindeer will be on hand for photos with children and many other events are planned.
